Michael, a dedicated violinist, has cultivated a passion for music from a young age, blossoming into a multifaceted artist with a diverse portfolio of performances and achievements. His musical odyssey began within the prestigious circles of Australia’s youth orchestras, honing his craft, his humour and his artistry.
As a principal Second Violinist for the Gold Coast Chamber Orchestra (GCCO), Michael has contributed profoundly to the ensemble’s dynamic sound. His musical ventures have graced iconic venues like the Sydney Opera House and Paradiso, where he enchanted audiences as a member of the esteemed Australian Youth Orchestra, and commemorated Gene Wilder’s passing with a solo rendition of Pure Imagination from the movie musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Notably, Michael has left his mark on esteemed platforms, performing for the Archibald Prize and contributing to memorable renditions of Piazzolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, and Shostakovich’ The Gadfly with the GCCO.
Michael’s musical versatility extends beyond orchestral performances, encompassing a vibrant theatrical dimension. He has taken the lead in productions such as ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ and ‘Oliver!’, collaborating with Queensland’s foremost theatre productions, infusing his violin’s soulful melodies into the dramatic tapestry.
His collaborative spirit shines through in various capacities, from hosting Ernie Dingo and Slava Grigoryan with the QCGU Chamber Orchestras to captivating audiences at Jammin Music festivals. Beyond performing, Michael’s dedication to the Gold Coast Chamber Orchestra extends to leadership roles, serving as President, Treasurer, and IT Manager, enriching the ensemble’s operations and musical pursuits.
Michael’s musical journey encompasses a kaleidoscope of performances, including enchanting duets alongside his father, weaving intricate melodies between violin and accordion.
